Anniversaries
Gifts for anniversaries and milestones
An anniversary gift has a problem a wedding gift does not: the couple already has everything they were given at the wedding. Whatever you bring has to earn a place in a house that is already furnished, and against the memory of the last few years of gifts. That narrows it usefully, and it is why personalisation does more work here than it does anywhere else.

Why anniversaries are harder than weddings
At a wedding, everybody is buying for a home that does not exist yet, so almost anything useful lands.
At an anniversary the home exists, has a settled look, and already contains the things people gave at the wedding. A generic piece competes with all of it.
So the question shifts from what is nice to what is specific to them. That is the whole difference, and it is why a date or a name does more work here than a better-looking generic object.
A first anniversary against a twenty-fifth
The early ones are usually between the couple, often in a flat they are still settling, and sometimes rented. Smaller, movable, and not something that demands a wall.
A tenth or a fifteenth tends to come with a settled home and a wall that has been bare for a while. This is where a proper piece lands well.
A twenty-fifth is frequently a family occasion with children organising it, which changes the budget and often means a group gift. It is also the one where a dated, named piece is most likely to be kept permanently.
The useful question is not which anniversary, it is whether they own the walls.
Putting a date on something
A date is the simplest personalisation and the one people underrate. Two names and a year, worked into the design rather than stamped across the middle of it.
It is better than a message, because a message ages and a date does not.
Tell me the exact form you want it in. Year alone, full date, or the date in words all look very different in a piece this size, and it cannot be changed after the clay is laid.
When it is a surprise, and when it should not be
For a gift from outside the couple, a surprise is fine and personalising with their names and the year is safe.
For a gift between the couple, I would ask them. An anniversary piece goes on a shared wall, and a surprise that does not suit the room becomes an awkward negotiation afterwards.
The exception is a replacement for something they already have and love, where you know exactly what you are matching.
Milestones that are not anniversaries
A new house, which overlaps with griha pravesh and is covered on the gifting page.
A retirement, where something for the home rather than the office tends to land better, because the office is about to stop existing.
A significant birthday, where the piece usually wants to be for them rather than for the house.
A business milestone, which is a different conversation and sits on the corporate gifting page.
Choosing with the room in mind
If you know the house, work from the room. Send me a photograph of where it might go and the two dominant colours.
If you do not know the house, go smaller and less wall-dependent. A candle plate or a tea light pair asks nothing of them.
The failure mode is a large piece in a strong colour for a room you have never seen. It becomes a thing they have to find space for.
How far ahead
Anniversaries are known a year in advance and remembered a fortnight before, which is the whole problem.
Everything is made to order and the drying between layers sets the pace. A personalised piece with a date is not quicker than one without.
Tell me the date at the start and I will tell you the same day whether it is achievable. If it is not, a smaller or simpler piece usually is, and that is a better answer than a late one.
What I would not do
Anything with a quantity of text on it. A piece crowded with a long message stops being an object and becomes a card.
A surprise large wall piece for a couple whose home you have not seen.
A rushed personalised piece. The personalisation is the whole point and it is the part that cannot be redone if the drying was hurried.
